St. Regis Mohawk Tribe & MMJ Biopharma Cultivation Sign Cannabis Cultivation Agreement
ST. PETERSBURG, FL and AWKESASNE, NY / ACCESSWIRE / January 18, 2021 /The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, or also known as Kanienkehaka, recently announced the signing of a pharmaceutical marijuana development agreement with MMJ Biopharma Cultivation.
The reservation located in Hogansburg, NY and is adjacent to the Akwesasnereserve in Ontario and Quebec across the St. Lawrence River. Approximately 3000 American Indians call it home.
The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe has a long history of medical innovation: In 2017, the multinational pharma company Allergan agreed to transfer six patents for the ophthalmic form of its drug Restasis to the tribe. The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe considers the MMJ BioPharma cannabis cultivation deal to be a significant opportunity to expand and diversify its revenue sources.

SWFs, pension funds remain eager to buy property assets
Falling tourist numbers, a rise in e-commerce and a growing cohort of homeworkers haven t stopped SWFs and pension funds from pouring millions into office and retail real estate.
Sovereign wealth and pension funds expanded their allocations to real estate in 2020 more than to any other type of alternative asset. They also closed the highest number of deals in the sector, compared to other industries such as technology and infrastructure.
According to Preqin data, among alternatives assets, sovereign wealth funds allocated an average $3.84 billion to real estate, a 10.3% increase from last year. Meanwhile, their allocations to hedge funds, private equity and infrastructure showed relatively smaller increases of between 1.5% and 2.9%.
